Moderate Republicans touting virtues of “light money” PAC

 A group of moderate Republicans who denounce anonymous campaign spending in elections say their Political Action Committee, or PAC, plays by the rules.

PACs have been the source of so-called dark money over the last few elections cycles, and a lot of that spending in Montana has been aimed at helping more conservative Republicans win primary campaigns.

The moderates say this time they’re fighting back--in a transparent way.

Moderate, conservative Republicans lash out ahead of state GOP convention

Montana’s Republican faithful are preparing for their annual convention this Friday and Saturday, despite an unusually stark division between certain factions of the party—specifically legislators.

The increasingly public split between hardline conservatives and a group of moderates labeling themselves ‘Responsible Republicans’ became apparent throughout the course of the 2013 Legislature, with the moderates breaking away from party leadership to side with Democrats on many of the session’s key issues.

Bullock vetoes draw GOP criticism

Governor Steve Bullock has finished working through bills from the 2013 Legislative Session. Bullock signed 393 bills this session.

But Capitol Reporter Dan Boyce says he vetoed 71.
